I think the evolution of things have paused, only lots of changes are happening.
But the thing that haven't changed is the peoples need for "RESPECT".
It is one of the important thing which a human thrive for.People thinks that the
only source from which they can earn respect is a high designation in the society
which totally contradicts my thoughts for respect.
There are instances when people enjoy a high designation still they seek for respect and get irritated if they do not get it and when they see nothing is working out then they start demanding it or commanding it forcibly.
For an instance people won't take tea from tea stall if the shopkeeper won't add a SIR/SAHIB while giving the tea, here even if the person do not deserve respect he is demanding it.
My question for those who demand respect is that:-why don't they realise that respect can only be earned by their deeds and nothing else.
If someone spare seconds to think about this then instead of commanding or demanding respect they can focus on their contribution towards the society and their doings so that the they will be respected.
To conclude I will add up how I define respect: According to me if you greet, wish, smile at someone unconditionally then that person has earned the respect from you.
